1. Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how Caller Lookup ("Caller Lookup", "we", "us") collects, uses and shares personal information about visitors and customers located in the United States, and the rights available to you under applicable state privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA ("CCPA"). It is effective as of August 28, 2026. If you have questions, contact us at support@caller-lookup.com.
2. Categories of personal information we collect
In the last 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: email address, the phone numbers you search, IP address and similar online identifiers.
- Commercial information: your subscription status, purchase history and reports you have unlocked.
- Payment information: handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited billing details but never your full card number.
- Internet activity: pages visited, interactions with the service, browser and device information, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Customer support records: messages you send us and our replies.
- Consent and marketing records: whether the notification box on our search form was checked, the wording you saw, the date and time, your IP address (stored in shortened or hashed form), browser and device information and the page where you gave your email; your unsubscribe and other choices; and records of the emails we send you, including delivery, opens and link clicks.
- Approximate location: country, region and time zone derived from your IP address, used to send messages at reasonable local times and to apply the rules of the place you are in.
- Mobile phone number and text message records: only if you join our text program, as described in "Text messages (SMS)" below.
We collect this information directly from you, automatically from your device when you use the service, and from our payment processor.
3. How we use personal information
- to run the searches you request and deliver your reports;
- to process payments, manage subscriptions and send transactional emails;
- to provide customer support and respond to your requests;
- to secure the service, prevent fraud and enforce our Terms & Conditions;
- to understand how the service is used and improve it; and
- with your consent, to send you email updates and privacy tips.
- when you leave the notification box on our search form checked, to send you notification and marketing emails about the number you searched and our service, until you unsubscribe;
- to decide which emails to send and when, using the searches you started, the page and ad campaign that brought you, your approximate time zone, whether you have bought and how you interact with our emails and website; and
- to test different versions of our emails and pages and measure which ones lead to purchases.
4. Marketing emails
When you enter your email address on our search form and leave the notification box checked, we send you notification and marketing emails about the phone number you searched, explanations of how our reports work, and offers for Caller Lookup. We keep a record of how and when you signed up, as described in section 2.
These emails may mention the last four digits of the number you searched and whether our search found a record for it. They never contain the full number. We use the searches you started, the page and ad campaign that brought you, your approximate time zone, whether you have bought, and how you interact with our emails and website to decide which emails to send and when. We test different versions of subject lines, content and timing, and we keep a small group of subscribers who receive fewer or no marketing emails so we can measure whether our emails help.
How we measure emails. Links in our marketing emails pass through a click-measurement address (links.mail.caller-lookup.com) and then through caller-lookup.com, so we know which link was clicked. When you click a link, caller-lookup.com may set a first-party cookie named cl_msg for up to 30 days that connects your visit to the email you clicked. Our marketing emails can also contain a small image that tells us when an email is opened. Many email apps load these images automatically, so we do not use opens to make decisions about you. Links in our emails never contain your email address or phone number.
Stopping marketing emails. Click "Unsubscribe" in any marketing email, use your email app's unsubscribe button, reply "unsubscribe", or email support@caller-lookup.com. We stop as soon as we receive your request. Unsubscribing does not stop service emails such as sign-in codes, receipts and replies to your support requests. Once you have bought from us, we no longer send you marketing emails.
We keep a record of your unsubscribe and a one-way hashed copy of your email address so that we never send you marketing emails again, even if you later ask us to delete your other information.
5. Selling and sharing of personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. Like many websites, we may use analytics and advertising cookies that could be considered "sharing" or a "sale" under the broad definitions in some state privacy laws. You can opt out of this at any time by emailing support@caller-lookup.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information", or by declining non-essential cookies as described in our Cookie Policy. We honor opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control where required by law. We do not knowingly collect or sell the personal information of anyone under 18 years of age.
This section does not apply to your mobile phone number or text message consent, which we never sell or share as described in "Text messages (SMS)" below.
6. Text messages (SMS)
What we collect. If you join Caller Lookup Text Alerts, we collect your mobile phone number; the date, time, IP address, browser and device information and page where you gave consent; the exact wording you agreed to; any confirmation reply you send; and records of the text messages we send you and your replies, including delivery status. We may check with our messaging provider whether your number is a mobile number.
How we use it. We use this information only to send you the text messages you asked for (updates about phone numbers you search, reminders about searches and checkouts you started on caller-lookup.com, and offers for our service), to honor your opt-out and help requests, to keep records of your consent, and to prevent fraud and abuse. If you join, we use information about your activity on caller-lookup.com, such as starting a search or a checkout without completing it, to send you reminders. We use a messaging service provider, Twilio, to deliver texts.
No sharing for marketing. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number, text message opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every other category of sharing described in this policy. We share this information only with service providers that help us deliver messages and operate our service on our behalf, or when required by law.
Stopping texts. Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPT OUT) to any message, or email support@caller-lookup.com. We send one message confirming your opt-out and then stop. Reply HELP for help.
Retention. We keep records of your text message consent and opt-out for at least five years after our last message to you, to document your choices and to make sure we never text you after you opt out, even if you ask us to delete your other data. Records of the texts we send you are kept for up to 24 months.
Scope. Our text message program is available for US mobile numbers only. Joining it is never required to buy anything, and our email notification box never signs you up for texts.
7. Service providers
We use service providers that process personal information on our behalf under contracts and may use it only to provide their services to us. They include: Resend, which sends our emails and reports their delivery, bounces, opens, clicks and spam complaints back to us; our hosting, database and analytics providers; our checkout, payment and order-management providers; and the data providers we query to build the reports you request. If you join our text program, Twilio sends and receives our text messages.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:
- know what categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; and
- not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
To exercise any of these rights, email support@caller-lookup.com from the email address associated with your account and tell us which right you want to exercise. We will confirm receipt and respond within the time required by law, typically 45 days. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf; we will require proof of the agent's authority.
9. Retention
We keep each category of personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy: account and billing records for the life of your subscription plus the period needed for tax, accounting and dispute-handling purposes, and technical logs for shorter periods before deletion or anonymization.
Records of your email consent and unsubscribe choices are kept for at least five years after our last message to you, and a one-way hashed copy of any address that unsubscribed, complained or bounced is kept so that we never email it again. Records of the marketing emails we send you (their content, delivery and clicks) are kept for up to 24 months.
10. Important limits on our service
Caller Lookup is not a consumer reporting agency and the information we provide is not a consumer report under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). You may not use Caller Lookup to make decisions about credit, employment, insurance, housing or tenant screening, or for any other purpose that requires FCRA compliance.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page. Questions or requests can be sent to support@caller-lookup.com.
Our postal address is 30 N Gould St Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, United States.
