Caller Lookup

Privacy Policy (EU & UK)

Last updated: October 9, 2026

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Caller Lookup ("Caller Lookup", "we", "us") processes personal data when you visit our website or use our reverse phone lookup service, and it applies to visitors located in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") and the UK GDPR, Caller Lookup is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at support@caller-lookup.com.

This policy is effective as of August 28, 2026.

2. Personal data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

3. Lawful bases for processing

We only process personal data where we have a lawful basis to do so:

Caller Lookup's service and marketing are aimed at users in the United States. If you are in the EEA or the UK and receive a marketing email from us, we rely on your consent; you can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to support@caller-lookup.com, and withdrawing never affects a service you bought.

4. Marketing emails

When you enter your email address on our search form and leave the notification box checked, we send you notification and marketing emails about the phone number you searched, explanations of how our reports work, and offers for Caller Lookup. We keep a record of how and when you signed up, as described in section 2.

These emails may mention the last four digits of the number you searched and whether our search found a record for it. They never contain the full number. We use the searches you started, the page and ad campaign that brought you, your approximate time zone, whether you have bought, and how you interact with our emails and website to decide which emails to send and when. We test different versions of subject lines, content and timing, and we keep a small group of subscribers who receive fewer or no marketing emails so we can measure whether our emails help.

How we measure emails. Links in our marketing emails pass through a click-measurement address (links.mail.caller-lookup.com) and then through caller-lookup.com, so we know which link was clicked. When you click a link, caller-lookup.com may set a first-party cookie named cl_msg for up to 30 days that connects your visit to the email you clicked. Our marketing emails can also contain a small image that tells us when an email is opened. Many email apps load these images automatically, so we do not use opens to make decisions about you. Links in our emails never contain your email address or phone number.

Stopping marketing emails. Click "Unsubscribe" in any marketing email, use your email app's unsubscribe button, reply "unsubscribe", or email support@caller-lookup.com. We stop as soon as we receive your request. Unsubscribing does not stop service emails such as sign-in codes, receipts and replies to your support requests. Once you have bought from us, we no longer send you marketing emails.

We keep a record of your unsubscribe and a one-way hashed copy of your email address so that we never send you marketing emails again, even if you later ask us to delete your other information.

5. Text messages (SMS)

What we collect. If you join Caller Lookup Text Alerts, we collect your mobile phone number; the date, time, IP address, browser and device information and page where you gave consent; the exact wording you agreed to; any confirmation reply you send; and records of the text messages we send you and your replies, including delivery status. We may check with our messaging provider whether your number is a mobile number.

How we use it. We use this information only to send you the text messages you asked for (updates about phone numbers you search, reminders about searches and checkouts you started on caller-lookup.com, and offers for our service), to honor your opt-out and help requests, to keep records of your consent, and to prevent fraud and abuse. If you join, we use information about your activity on caller-lookup.com, such as starting a search or a checkout without completing it, to send you reminders. We use a messaging service provider, Twilio, to deliver texts.

No sharing for marketing. We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number, text message opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are excluded from every other category of sharing described in this policy. We share this information only with service providers that help us deliver messages and operate our service on our behalf, or when required by law.

Stopping texts. Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, OPT OUT) to any message, or email support@caller-lookup.com. We send one message confirming your opt-out and then stop. Reply HELP for help.

Retention. We keep records of your text message consent and opt-out for at least five years after our last message to you, to document your choices and to make sure we never text you after you opt out, even if you ask us to delete your other data. Records of the texts we send you are kept for up to 24 months.

Scope. Our text message program is available for US mobile numbers only. Joining it is never required to buy anything, and our email notification box never signs you up for texts.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Account and subscription records are kept while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to handle billing questions and meet legal obligations. Search queries and technical logs are retained for shorter periods and then deleted or anonymised. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or irreversibly anonymise it.

Records of your email consent and unsubscribe choices are kept for at least five years after our last message to you, and a one-way hashed copy of any address that unsubscribed, complained or bounced is kept so that we never email it again. Records of the marketing emails we send you (their content, delivery and clicks) are kept for up to 24 months.

7. Sharing and international transfers

We share personal data with service providers who help us operate the service, including hosting providers, our database provider and Stripe for payment processing. These providers act on our instructions under data processing agreements. Some providers are located outside the EEA and the UK, including in the United States. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or an adequacy decision covering the recipient country.

Our service providers include Resend, which sends our emails, and, if you join our US text program, Twilio, which sends our text messages. Both are located in the United States.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email support@caller-lookup.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within one month, and we may ask for information to verify your identity before acting on a request.

9. Complaints

If you believe we have processed your personal data unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement, or with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the United Kingdom. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first, so please consider contacting us before approaching a regulator.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the service. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@caller-lookup.com.
